Member's Pledge
(from Ephesians 6)

I am called to stand strong.

I will put on the armour of God:
with the belt of truth around my waist
and the breastplate of a good conscience;
with the good news of peace as shoes for my feet
and the shield of faith to repel the arrows of the evil one;
with God's promise of salvation as a helmit for my head
and the sword of the Spirit, the word of God, in my hand.
I will pray in the Spirit at all times.

I will never give up.
As a member of FYC, I will follow Jesus in the peaceful way of Francis of Assisi.
I will share in the mission of the Church by living the prayer of Saint Francis
and by wearing the armour of God.
Saint Francis of Assisi was called to reform the church not in the way other saints had done, nor only for his own time but for all time to come.  Whenever society strays from the right path, no other remedy is needed but to receive the spirit of the Order founded by Saint Francis.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
